About Steven C. Millwee, CPP

STEVEN C. MILLWEE, CPP, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of SecurTest, Inc. and Steven C. Millwee and Associates, Inc., founded in 1978.  Mr. Millwee is the author of The SecurTest System of over 320 applicant and employee investigative questionnaires.  He is the co-author with labor attorney John-Edward Alley of The Threat From Within: Workplace Violence. Steven C. Millwee and Associates, Inc., the investigative arm for SecurTest, specializes in workplace violence, sexual harassment, discrimination claims, crisis management, employee misconduct such as theft and corporate espionage, and management and employee training to defuse the potential for workplace violence.  He one of today’s most dynamic, highest rated speakers on workplace violence and leadership development.  Mr. Millwee is also the author of two books on criminal investigation, polygraph and interview and interrogation techniques.  He is listed in Who’s Who In Leading American Executives. Mr. Millwee has authored chapters in the comprehensive Institute of Business Law Employment Regulations manual about employment practices and workplace violence.

 

Mr. Millwee has testified as an expert witness in the fields of workplace violence, sexual harassment, negligent hiring, retention, screening and security, polygraph and police and security procedures.  He is a crisis management consultant to many American corporations conducting violence and threat assessments.  He is the author of SecurViolence and SecurThreat, custom threat assessment questionnaires and Secur arassment for both the complainant and accused to help uncover fact from fiction in sexual harassment investigations.

 

Mr. Millwee was an adjunct college professor for over eight years at St. Petersburg Junior College, the Florida Institute for Law Enforcement and the Tampa Police Academy.  While a college instructor, he was certified through The Commission on Criminal Justice Standards and Training.  He is nationally known as an expert on workplace violence, human resource screening, sexual harassment, theft and fraud by employees, and interview and interrogation.  He is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through the American Society for Industrial Security.  The CPP distinction demonstrates a significant level of competency in the security profession through arduous testing, background qualifications and the promotion of high standards of professional conduct.

 

Mr. Millwee lectures nationally on human resource and security issues.  He lectures with the Council On Education In Management, American Society for Industrial Security, National Safety Council, Building Owners Management Association, Society for Human Resource Management, and Institute of Business Law (California State University, Los Angeles), among others.  His highly rated lectures include screening of applicants and employees, workplace violence, sexual harassment, defusing disgruntled and violent workers, domestic violence, employee theft, fraud prevention, employee investigations, hostage survival, robbery survival, negligent hiring and retention, interview and interrogation, leadership development, and written testing.

 

Mr. Millwee has been a professional member of the American Society for Industrial Security since 1978.  His peers elected him in 1998 to the 1999-2001 International Board of Directors.  He is the 2000 Secretary and the 2001 Vice President of ASIS International. He was the ASIS Regional Vice President for Education from 1997 to 1998. He was the 1997 Regional Vice President of the Year. He was on the ASIS CPP Role Delineation Committee for updating their certification tests in 1998. His committee developed information in the investigation, negligent hiring and retention, negligent security, and workplace violence disciplines. He was the Assistant Regional Vice President for Florida in 1996 and 1997.  He was the 1995 chairman of the Florida West Coast ASIS chapter after holding numerous other chapter officer and committee chairs.  He is also a professional member of the Society for Human Resource Management and American Polygraph Association.  His expertise and techniques are listed in the first edition (1997) and second edition (1998) of Best Business Practices, published by the American Society for Industrial Security.  He is also the author of Staring Up the Stairs: Leadership Excellence.  He recently authored Integrating Security Into the HR Function for Security Management Magazine for December 1999.

 

Previously, Mr. Millwee was the lead detective in the Unsolved Murder Unit of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Tampa, Florida.  He was responsible for all murder investigations that remained unsolved over six months.  Mr. Millwee formerly was with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington D.C.  In over 22 years of helping corporations and government agencies defuse hostile or threatening employees, no incidents of retaliatory violence have occurred using the methods and counsel offered by Mr. Millwee.

 

Mr. Millwee has 33 years experience in interview, interrogation, investigations, testing and management.  He holds a BA from the University of South Florida in Criminology and is in the Master’s program of Dallas Theological Seminary.
