California Consumer Privacy ActNotice for California ConsumersThis notice describes the rights of Californians under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”). Click here for information about the CCPA. Click here to read the CCPA law. The CCPA requires businesses like us, that receive information from California consumers, to provide certain information to them. We further describe our practices in our Privacy Policy, but use this separate notice to ensure that we meet the CCPA’s requirements. This notice contains the following four parts:
1. We Do Not Sell Your Personal InformationThe CCPA requires us to disclose whether we sell your personal information. We do not sell, lease, or rent your personal information. 2. Why We May Collect Your InformationSecurTest, Inc. is a background screening provider. Employers and other end-users request a background investigation, consumer report, or investigative report as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or other applicable law, such as the CCPA. We required our clients to obtain your authorization for such reports, which clearly identifies SecurTest, Inc. as the provider that investigates and collects the information that is reported. When your personal information is collected on SecurTest's publicly accessible web site, SecurTest will inform you at the point of collection of the purpose for the collection. SecurTest will use your personal information only in the way we specify when it is collected unless you consent to a different use. For example, SecurTest may use personal information submitted in an account application to set up and maintain your account. We also may use the personal information you provide to answer your questions and inquiries, to support our own recruitment activities in response to your inquiries into SecurTest’s job postings, and to provide newsletters and other information (if any) that you have requested. If you have provided your personal information over this web site in connection with a background check ordered by SecurTest's client, we may use your personal information to perform your background check for that client. SecurTest will not use your information to conduct a background screening investigation and create a report unless SecurTest's client has provided a certification required by the FCRA and any other applicable law or an authorization submitted by you. In this certification, SecurTest's client certifies to us that it has a legally permissible purpose for ordering the background check, and that it has, to the extent required by applicable law, obtained your informed consent to conduct the background check. iReviewNow, LLC is not a background screening provider or consumer reporting agency. iReviewNow, LLC is a holding company for the iReviewNow patents. SecurTest is an authorized licensee and user of these patents. SecurTest, through iReviewNow, and other means allow consumers and subjects of the background reports to view their report, dispute any inaccuracies or incomplete information, and in some instances provide contextual information you may wish to append to the report. Contextual information may include explanatory information about adverse, negative, or derogatory information that is otherwise accurate and complete. Contextual information may also include documents or information you provide related to self-improvement or corrective steps you have taken since the occurrence of adverse, negative, or derogatory event(s). 3. Your Rights Under the CCPAThe CCPA provides Californians with the following rights: 3.1 Requests for InformationYou (or your authorized agent) can request a copy of your personal information. You or your authorized agent will be required to verify your identity and your authorization where you may authorize an agent. We a photocopy of a valid identification, such as a driver’s license, government issued identification, or other proof to ensure we are providing this information only to you or your authorized agent. SecurTest, Inc. or iReviewNow, LLC, hereafter “STI/IRN”, also will require you to confirm, by email from your primary email address, that you granted the agent permission to submit the request. Under the CCPA, you can also request that we disclose how we have collected, used, and shared your personal information over the past 12 months, including the categories of personal information we collected and our purposes for doing so; the categories of sources for that information; the categories of third parties with whom we shared it for a business purpose and our purposes for doing so. Companies that sell personal information (we do not) must make additional disclosures.
If you have not authorized a background check, consumer, or investigative report, you can submit your request here or can submit a request via an authorized agent. The authorized agent will be required to verify their identity, and you will be asked to confirm by email that you granted the agent permission to submit the request, along with proof of your identity.
3.2 Your Right to Opt Out of SalesWe do not sell personal information, so we don’t have an opt out. 3.3 Your Right to NotificationUnder the CCPA, a company like STI/IRN cannot collect new categories of personal information or use them for materially different purposes without first notifying you. 3.4 Nondiscrimination for exercising your CCPA RightsThe CCPA prohibits businesses from discriminating against you for exercising your rights under the law. Such discrimination may include denying services, charging different prices or rates for services, providing a different level or quality of services, or suggesting that you will receive a different level or quality of goods or services as a result of exercising your rights. 3.5 Your Right to Delete Personal InformationLike all of our consumers, you can request that we delete your personal information. You also can request that we delete specific information. We honor such requests, unless an exception applies, such as when the information is necessary to complete the background report, consumer or investigative report, transaction or contract for which it was collected or when it is was being used to prepare such a report, comply with laws, or ensure another consumer’s ability to exercise their free speech rights or other rights provided by law. 4. The CCPA Categories of Personal Information We Collect and the SourcesOur Privacy Policy describes the information we collect and its sources. This notice organizes that information around the personal information categories set forth in the CCPA.
We use this personal information for the purposes for conducting a background investigation, preparation of a background, consumer, or investigative report as defined by law. See our Privacy Policy. 5. The CCPA Categories of Personal Information We Share for a “Business Purpose”While we do not sell your personal information, we may share it to support our own operational purposes in providing Services to you, such as conducting a background investigation, preparation of a background, consumer, or investigative report as defined by law. These operational purposes, known as “business purposes” under the CCPA, are described below. In addition, we may share personal information to prepare such a background report. 5.1 Security PurposesIn order to secure our Services, including to detect, prevent and investigate security incidents or violations of our policies or applicable laws, we may share the types of personal information listed in Section 3 with our partners, service providers, law enforcement and related companies. 5.2 Service Providers and Other Notified PurposesWe may share the types of personal information listed in Section 3 with Service Providers, as defined by the CCPA, in order to have them perform services specified by a written contract or with others for a notified purpose permitted by the CCPA (e.g., to respond to law enforcement requests or obtain information or records to complete the background investigation). Children Under Age 18 SecurTest does not offer services to children under the age of 18, and this web site is not directed to children under the age of 18. SecurTest does not knowingly collect information about children under the age of 18.. Moreover, we generally do not collect information about minor children under the age of consent, as defined by federal and state laws and only for the purpose of performing a background check pursuant to employment.
Changes to this Privacy Policy SecurTest may revise this policy from time to time. If there is a material change to this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised policy at this location. SecurTest will not provide less privacy protection, without your consent, to information collected under a prior policy. We encourage you to periodically review this policy to be informed of how we protect your information.
